ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Blues placed star forward Alex Steen on the injured list Saturday because of a concussion and are cautiously optimistic. General manager Doug Armstrong said the NHLs No. 2 goal scorer will be out indefinitely. Armstrong announced the move, made retroactive to Dec. 21, in a statement before the teams game with Chicago. "I say indefinitely because it could be day to day or week to week," Armstrong said during the morning skate. "Theres no set timetable, but he is exercising and we hope he has a speedy recovery." Steen hasnt played since he left a game against Edmonton on Dec. 21 with what the team called an "upper-body injury." Its the second concussion with the Blues for Steen, who will not accompany the team on a two-game trip to Dallas and Minnesota. "Were going to want to take our time," Armstrong said. "Were hoping that its not a long-term thing." Steen is the Blues leading scorer with 24 goals and 38 points in 35 games. He has six game-winning goals, second most in the league. The Blues believe Steens symptoms began with a hit by Ottawas Zack Smith on Dec. 16. Smith was penalized for an illegal check to the head but the NHL did not review the play. Steen also took a high hit from the Canadiens Douglas Murray on Dec. 19 and the last came from former teammate David Perron of Edmonton. "Hes such a big part of our team," said forward Jaden Schwartz, who has taken Steens spot on the Blues top line with David Backes and T.J. Oshie. "He plays in all situations, hes a big leader, so its definitely tough." The Swede is in his ninth season. He signed a three-year $17.4 million contract extension this month. Forward Sergey Andronov was recalled under emergency conditions from Chicago (AHL). The 24-year-old Andronov was a third-round pick in the 2009 draft has 13 points on seven goals and six assists in 28 games. Steen missed 39 games with a concussion in 2011-12 from a hit against the Phoenix Coyotes on Dec. 23, 2011. "I think wed be just as careful if it was his first one," Armstrong said. "Any time you deal with a head injury, you want to be cautious and thats what we want to do with Alexander." The Blues anticipated forward Vladimir Sobotka would return Saturday from an upper-body injury. Michael Bennett Jersey . Blatter, a 75-year-old Swiss executive who has been in office since 1998, was handed a final four-year term as head of footballs governing body in a vote at FIFAs congress. He won 186 votes out of 203 ballots. Jeremy Lane Jersey . PAUL, Minn. Cortez Kennedy Jersey . 1 and reigning champion Caroline Wozniacki was among Thursdays third-round winners, while second- seeded Victoria Azarenka pulled out of the draw at the $4. Justin Britt Jersey .com) - Charlie Davies netted a pair of goals, including the series-winner on Saturday, as the New England Revolution battled the New York Red Bulls to a 2-2 draw in the second leg of the Eastern Conference Championship at Gillette Stadium and advanced to MLS Cup final via a thrilling 4-3 aggregate victory.Los Angeles Kings 3, Winnipeg Jets 1 (Jets 30-27-7, home 15-12-5) - The win makes it six straight for the Kings since the Olympic break, a team that won once in 10 games before the break. The loss drops the Jets to three points back of Dallas for the final spot in the Western Conference. No scoring in the first period but it was a good start for the Jets, who jumped out to a 6-2 lead on the shots clock, but helped by a power play the Kings started to take the game over and outshot the Jets 11-7. Through part of the first and into the second the Jets went 17:52 without a shot on goal, but Olli Jokinens 15th of the year put the Jets in front 1-0. Good hustle by Evander Kane set up the goal, with Mark Stuart also drawing an assist. It was the third straight game the Jets have scored first, Jokinen opening the scoring in Nashville, Andrew Ladd opening the scoring against the Islanders. But the lead only lasted 42 seconds before Dustin Brown, in tight on Ondrej Pavelec, tied the game. Mike Richards picked off a cross ice pass and wired one past Pavelec at 16:15 to give the Kings the lead. Kings are 18-0 this season when leading after two. Shots in the second were 10-6, Los Angeles. In the third, the Kings showed why they need to be considered one of the power houses in the Western Conference. Kings outshot the Jets 20-5 in the third, and if not for Pavelec, the Kings would have skated their way to a route. Pavelec made one outstanding save after another and not until a power play goal by Alec Martinez at 15:51 was the game put away. Final shots were 41-18. It was the first time in five games this year Pavelec has lost when facing 40 or more shots.dddddddddddd Pavelec was the games first star. In total the Kings directed 78 shots at the Jets net, with 23 blocked and 14 missing the net. Kings are now 19-0 when leading after two. Kane led the Jets with seven shots on goal, Zach Bogosian in ice time at 24:19, Mark Stuart blocked seven shots, Jim Slater won eight of nine face-offs and has now won 15 of 16 over the past two games, Bryan Little won 10 of 16. Dustin Byfuglien led in hits with five, including a first period hit on Jake Muzzin that put the Kings defenceman into the Jets bench. Coach Paul Maurice had this to say post game. "I liked the speed of the game that we started the game with. Then we ran into the LA Kings at their best. They will take your game and frustrate you to the point that you would start to change what youre trying to do, because theres nothing given easily. We started to do things without your feet moving and you cant do that against them. I was left with the thought there are two kinds of confidence in hockey, and its individual confidence in a player that comes and goes at times. Second a style of play to handle these games. We needed to hold the lead longer than we did. Its dangerous to evaluate your offensive game against that team." On the loss, "The fact you are chasing hurts more when you lose." Jets play Ottawa Saturday afternoon (TSN 1290) at MTS Centre, then head to Colorado for a game Monday. Its a single trip before they return home for three - against Vancouver, the Rangers and Dallas.
